Laura is a doctoral researcher at the Royal Veterinary College in London, researching the challenges associated with animal health and welfare in the food system. She gained her Bachelors degree in zoology at the University of Sussex and Masters in wild animal biology at the Institute of Zoology where she undertook research into captive galapagos tortoise management and welfare. Since her Masters she enhanced her knowledge and experience of the veterinary profession working in the Queen Mother veterinary hospital undertaking hydrotherapy and caring for dogs with neurological disease. Laura also gained three years experience in experimental psychology undertaking primary research into early life cognition of broiler hens. Additionally, she has enjoyed research projects analysing the policy and safety of gene edited foods and feeds in the UK. Laura is extremely passionate about positively impacting animal health and welfare, as well as working towards environmental and sustainability goals.
