Aizwarya (Ash) Thanabalan is a second year PhD student at the University of Guelph in the department of Animal Biosciences. She began her undergraduate career in the Animal Biology program at the University of Guelph and discovered her passion for agriculture. She then worked as a research assistant, running animal trials, lab analysis and data analysis. This progressed into a Master's position in the Monogastric Nutrition Lab which she completed in 2019. Her PhD research focuses on examining the effects of feeding maternal flocks omega - 3 fatty acids on the development of progeny immune and skeletal system, performance and gut health.
Through both her work and academic experience, Ash is experienced in running clinical research trials, analytics and scientific writing. In her spare time, Ash enjoys hiking, trying new recipes and travelling.
